There was a lot of personal information written on endpaper paste downs that has been photoshopped out to protect my client's privacy.

Light surface cleaning done with latex free makeup sponge, avoiding

ink.

Media consolidation was performed: cover was coated with ~3% Klucel G solution in ethanol to stabilize it.

Losses to recto and verso endpapers (4, located on the head and tail of each) were infilled using 24lb ivory paper and wheat paste.

Adhesives:

Precooked wheat starch paste for majority of repairs, 3%

methylcellulose mixed with the paste in hinge areas for

greater flexibility, PVA/methylcellulose mix to attach

cambric to spine for added strength.

Repair papers:

10gsm tengujo to strengthen inner hinges, layer of toned

15gsm sekishu on spine area of case to strengthen areas

where cloth was wearing thin, 25gsm first spine lining on

text block, 45gsm second spine lining on text block and for

repairing head and tail of case.

Other:

Retouched cover with Golden fluid acrylics.

pencil.
