The text block was sewn, and its spine was reinforced in Italy before being cased in by Handmade Cactus Bindery. The spine is covered in faux leather for strength, while the front and back covers feature French machine peacock marbling on cotton rag paper. Paper marbling originated in East Asia before spreading to the Middle East and Europe, flourishing in France during the 18th and 19th centuries. French machine marbled paper, inspired by traditional hand marbled techniques, is widely used in fine bookbinding.
